This guide is written for the purpose of bringing standards-based arts education to each and every middle school student. By providing middle school educators, art specialists and general education teachers this guide, we offer a variety of approaches to standards-based arts education in the middle school grades. As a result of various middle school site configurations, middle school course offerings, school schedules, and varying student populations, many considerations are intentionally addressed in the implementation and integration of each of the four visual and performing arts disciplines, dance, music, theatre and visual arts.
