The GRAMMY® Foundation, a nonprofit arm of the Recording Academy, has a challenging responsibility to bring national attention to important issues such as the value of music and arts education and preserving our rich cultural legacy for future generations. Through its nationwide efforts, the Foundation has made great inroads. Foundation programs include: Smart Symphonies, Music in High Places, Concerts for Young People, Grammy in the Schools: Careers, Mentoring, High School Jazz Ensembles, and programs offered through the Leonard Bernstein Center for Learning.

Kuumbwa Jazz Center

The vision of the Kuumbwa Jazz Society is to see and hear the future of jazz develop in the capable minds and hearts of younger citizens. This vision supports their mission to promote education opportunities with a focus toward young people. Kuumbwa's Annual Summer Jazz Camp and the Kuumbwa High School Honors Band are for young people willing to dedicate themselves to study, practice, and performance. Kuumbwa's new education program, the Master Class Series, invites jazz enthusiasts of all ages to dig a little deeper and spend an evening with a well-known Bay Area educator and musician learning about jazz with a special focus. Long Beach Symphony Orchestra

The Long Beach Symphony Orchestra draws audiences from the greater Long Beach region to its six Classics and four Symphony POPS concerts each season. The Long Beach Symphony is a professional orchestra of 83 members. Select “Classic Concerts and Tickets” for the Classic Series and “Symphony POPS Concerts and Tickets" for the Pops Series. The Web site also provides information on Education Programs, Involvement Opportunities, sponsors a Bulletin Board, and offers a mailing list for patrons wishing to receive notice of events. The MOMI Museum of Musical Instruments

A fascinating site of virtual collections featuring guitars, mandolins, and musicians of the last two centuries. The beautiful exhibits include photographs, audio files, and valuable historical information. A few of the many topics are Mark Twain's musicianship, Rita Hayworth's guitar playing in the movie Gilda, singing cowboys, and the greats like Elvis and Woody Guthrie. A small gallery has guitars as works of art. Well worth a visit.

Music Center Arts and Education

The Education Division of the Music Center is one of the nation's foremost providers of arts education services. Established in 1979 to provide opportunities for lifelong learning in the arts and to enrich education of all children by bringing the arts into the classroom. The Education Division has touched the lives of more than 12 million students and teachers throughout Southern California. It currently offers 15 in-depth programs, including Center On Tour, and provides nearly 13,000 performances annually.

The National Sound Archive

Housing over 2.5 million published and unpublished recordings, the international music collection is one of the largest sound archives in the world. All genres, cultures, and most musical traditions of the world are represented, even wildlife sounds. Enough of a sampling is available online for listening to make it worthwhile. Ojai Music Festival

The Ojai Music Festival is for music lovers who desire an opportunity to get away for a special weekend of music and festivity. The festival weaves music of the past and present to create an event in an intimate, natural setting in the Ojai Valley. The Web site provides information about the festival and events. Tickets can be ordered by mail, fax, and online. Additional information is available on the Web site regarding lodging in Ojai, directions for visitors, volunteer opportunities, and educational outreach programs.

Orange County Symphony

Orange County Symphony (OCS) is a regional orchestra serving a metropolitan area of approximately 2.846 million people. OCS strives to enhance the image of its regional community and to expand musical exposure in children and parents. OCS is dedicated to providing classical and pops concerts that are of excellent performance and programming quality, bringing music from diverse cultures to the community, providing free educational children’s concerts and in-school concert preparation, and providing opportunities for young talented musicians. Pacific Chorale

Pacific Chorale produces its own series of concerts each year at Southern California’s Orange County Performing Arts Center. The chorale performs regularly with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony, and Long Beach Symphony. Pacific Chorale, comprised of 150 singers, performs an average of 19 performances annually. With a strong commitment to music education in Orange County, The Pacific Chorale offers sixteen education programs. A number of programs introduce participants to Pacific Chorale performances and encourage further exploration of the choral art and community. Percussive Arts Society

The Web site of the Percussive Arts Society is informative and useful for both teachers and students. Search for in-depth information on anything regarding percussion technique, instruments, education, research, performance, and appreciation throughout the world. Click on the small blue magnifying glass symbol in upper right to see an overview of the whole site. An online magazine is included for the latest percussion news plus valuable links.

Philharmonic Society

The mission of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, a not-for-profit corporation, is to foster, promote, and increase the knowledge and appreciation of the arts through the presentation of performances by musical artists of national and international stature and the development and implementation of a wide variety of music education outreach programs. The Society's youth programs are offered without charge to schools, students, and parents, and each year reach over a quarter of a million children from first grade through high school. Sacramento Choral Society

The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra (SCSO), a nonprofit organization established in 1996, is an auditioned, volunteer chorus with a professional orchestra committed to the performance, education, and appreciation of a wide range of choral orchestral music. Donald Kendrick is the current Conductor/Artistic Director. The Society’s Web site provides links to the current season information, ticket and subscription information, audition information and their Education-Outreach program. Visitors to the site can also sign up to receive an electronic newsletter from the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra.

Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra

Sacramento Taiko Dan

Taiko is a dynamic blend of sound, rhythm, and movement. Based on traditional Japanese percussion, it is a vibrant expression of Japanese and Asian-American art and culture. Sacramento Taiko Dan provides many programs for students from kindergarten through college. Performers have extensive experience working with students and student groups of all ages. The site also provides information on currently scheduled performances, the individual performers who are part of the group, a History and About Us section, and on taking classes in Taiko drumming.

San Diego Symphony

The San Diego Symphony is committed to providing musical experiences of superior quality for the greater San Diego community and beyond. The Symphony offers a wide range of concert experiences and performs over 100 concerts each season. Santa Rosa Symphony

Instituted in 1928, the Santa Rosa Symphony has grown to be a respected regional orchestra, the seventh largest in the state of California, presenting 21 classical performances plus specials each year. Westwind Brass

Westwind Brass seeks to foster international appreciation of brass chamber music through education and entertainment. Westwind Brass is a professional ensemble devoted to increasing students' awareness in music.
