Actors' Equity http://www.actorsequity.org/home.html Actors' Equity Association is the labor union representing over 40,000 American actors and stage managers working in the professional theatre. The site provides information for union members, news, (casting notices) events, links to related sites, and membership services. Within the Actor's Equity Web page a wonderful career resource is the "Casting Call" section. Although primarily for the Equity actor the section provides job openings for actors and stage managers. Here students can obtain current information about job openings in their area or anywhere in the country. Search categories include "types of notice" (Equity principal, Equity chorus, non-required principal, non-required chorus, or stage manager). Other categories include "state" or "by contract." This is a good primer for the actor looking for job opportunities.
Actors Theater Workshop Internship http://www.rsinternships.com/applications/posting.php3?ID=945 Under staff supervision, interns provide support for the management, development, and production of ATW activities. Different operating aspects of the theatre that interns may be involved with include: daily administrative operations, management of the studio rental business, marketing and PR, community programs, fundraising, facility upkeep and maintenance, grant writing, video production, event planning, and graphic design, among other projects. There will be opportunities to work closely with the Artistic Director, the Assistant Artistic Director and General Manager and other members of the creative leadership team.

BATS Improv School http://www.improv.org/school/index.htm May and June classes are posted at the BATS Improv School. Bay Area students looking for classes in improv acting will find a variety of classes in a program that has been in existence since 1986. The BATS program is one of the largest schools of improvisational theatre and attracts many international students. Free classes are offered for people living with life threatening illnesses in the Laughingstock program. The summer program is available as a PDF file to download.
Broadcast Education Association http://www.beaweb.org/ Broadcast Education Association is a nonprofit organization that provides a critical link between colleges and the broadcast industry. While the membership is primarily for institutions of higher learning and industry professionals, a wealth of information and contacts are available. The site provides a variety of links to university/instructional programs, course assignments and requirements, key research Web sites, academic job openings, and a multimedia bibliography. Scholarships are available to students of member institutions, several of which are in California. Excellent career opportunities can be found under "Academic Job Openings" and "Media Sites."
Circle in the Square Theatre School http://www.circlesquare.org/ Established in 1961, the Circle in a Square Theatre School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the career training of actors. The school shares a performance space with the well-known Circle in the Square Theatre in New York City. Programs that are available: a two-year professional acting program, a two-year professional musical theatre program, summer acting and musical workshops, and adult evening classes. Scholarships and financial aid are available.

Interns gain valuable administrative, education, artistic, and production skills in a professional and supportive environment. Applications for internships are accepted on a year-round basis. Interns are expected to make a minimum commitment of three months of part-time service or one month of full-time service. Scheduling is flexible.
