Academy of Art University Pre-College Programs
Each year, the Academy of Art University offers thousands of high school students around the world an opportunity to earn college credit while gaining hands-on experience in their comprehensive art & design classes. On campus and online programs are available both in the summer and on Saturdays, so students can choose the one that works with their schedule. With nearly 12,000 students, Academy of Art University is the nation's largest private art and design university. Established in 1929, the school offers accredited degree programs in advertising, animation & visual effects, architecture, computer arts new media, digital arts & communication, fashion, fine art, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, interior architecture & design, motion pictures & television, and photography.

The Art New Media program provides opportunities to learn skills and develop a strong foundation in art and design. In addition to an AA degree, four programs are offered leading to certification in Graphic Design, Illustration, Multimedia, or Web graphics.

Brooks Institute of Photography http://www.brooks.edu/ Brooks Institute of Photography has a long-established reputation for training professional photographers. In recent years, Brooks has added programs in Visual Communications, Motion Picture and Video Production, and Visual Journalism. The school offers graduates job placement services through the career services office. The school maintains one of the few underwater photography programs in the world. Students can complete degree programs from a Bachelor of Arts to a Master of Science. An Associate of Arts and a three-year diploma program are offered as well as special status studies and weekend workshops. The school is located in Santa Barbara, California.

Located in Emeryville, California, the private school grants Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Applied Science degrees to students who wish to complete the required credits. Students from around the world will be able to study filmmaking, screenwriting, and new media concepts over the Internet. Certificates of completion are given for successfully accomplishing the goals of each class. Currently, students can receive a discount on class fees as well as scholarships and grants. The courses are appropriate for college-level students. Students should have a basic understanding of English, although in the future classes will be offered in multiple languages.
Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center http://www.harvestworks.org/ Harvestworks is a nonprofit arts organization which was founded in 1977. Interdisciplinary work with multimedia, video, electronic music, and digital imaging is the focus of this organization. Classes and workshops allow artists to realize new works by learning new digital technologies in an environment that encourages collaboration. Located in SOHO New York, Harvestworks sponsors exhibitions and performances as well as the publication of Tellus--an ongoing recording project for contemporary sound works. J. Paul Getty Museum http://www.getty.edu This site is aesthetically appealing and easy to navigate. The collections can be searched by subject, type, or alphabetically by artist. Images are available in three viewable sizes with some offering x-ray views. The interactive video tour of current exhibits is visually engaging. A video gallery is also available. Visitors can use the site to help plan their actual museum visit. Many educational resources are available, including lesson plans and integration ideas. Los Angeles County Arts Commission http://www.lacountyarts.org/internship.html The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established the Arts Internship Program (which provides internships for nonprofit performing, presenting, literary, and municipal arts organizations) as a companion program to the Getty Multicultural Internship Program (which provides internships to museums and visual arts organizations). The purpose of the county's program is to provide undergraduate students with meaningful on-the-job training and experience in working in nonprofit arts organizations, while assisting arts organizations to develop future arts leaders. Through this program, students can develop a deeper understanding of the work involved in nonprofit arts administration, better understand the role of the arts in a community, and develop "real life" business skills that can be put to use in their future careers.

The user can search the images by title, artist, genre, and period. The "Virtual Exhibitions" allow the viewer to walk from room to room in the gallery. Established in the Fall of 2002, the career game development program consists of an 18-month schedule of courses in three areas of specialization. Students can choose to major in Art Creation, Level Design Specialization, or Software Development. The program was developed in concert with industry professionals and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York http://www.metmuseum.org The Metropolitan Museum of Art presents an impressive database of the museum's collections and calendar of exhibitions. Works displayed on the site are viewable in detail with a zoom feature. A valuable study resource for students, teachers, and scholars is the Timeline of Art History.
